Winter Calling is the second single from Shiverleaves.
Shiverleaves is leaves shivering in the cool autumn breeze. Shiverleaves is shivers leaving with the first breath of spring air. Shiverleaves hears Winter Calling.
Shiverleaves is a new musical project consisting of Alexander Mamaev (Russia), Loreta Neira Ocampo (Chile) and Victor Borgert (Argentina).
The project started as an outlet for music that Mamaev felt didn’t quite fit under the umbrella of his main band– Gonsofus. “Although I had been compiling material for some years, it wasn’t until I started working on “Into the Blue” (first single, released April 2020) that I felt the right motivation to launch the project. “Into the Blue” was the catalyst. That and a global pandemic.”
Following the release, the project expanded into a trio, with Mamaev being joined by friends and musical collaborators Loreta and Victor, known as the duo Helado Infinito. “We were already playing on each other’s tracks and were developing a great musical and personal understanding. Plus, we were living together at that time, so it only made sense!”, Alexander said.
The first result of the collaborative work as Shiverleaves is Winter Calling, a song that looks into varying relationships that people have with the coldest part of the year. The release comes packaged with a stop-motion video created by the band, reflecting the long winter days and nights that they often spent together.
